Just A Little Longer..

Super excited! This Thursday my husband and I will finally be getting away for a few days. We decided on a mini vacation to San Antonio,TX since it's only about 4hrs away from us. I've been obsessively staring at pictures on the computer trying to decide where I want to go first. We're staying at The St. Anthony which is just a little walk from the famed Riverwalk. I definitely want to hit up the art museum and of course check out the local antiques. Have any of you been? What are the best places to see?

Even though I'm excited about getting away, I'm more excited about coming back! I've been putting off working out and trying to get get healthy but I think the best time for me to start is after a relaxing vacation. I was doing good with fixing my fast food habits and sedentary lifestyle but then POOF! it all went to shit! One of the biggest motivators though is my upcoming 10yr high school reunion. I know that I'm not going to miraculously become a size 4 overnight but I could lose a few pounds and tone up my spare tire a little. My weight has actually made it difficult to get excited about going on vacation. Since I knew we would be going out and about I wanted to do a little shopping and maybe buy a cute dress to wear out to dinner. WELL...that went to hell in a hand basket...I basically had a mini breakdown because nothing fit and I eventually had to buy maternity shirts. And no, I'm not pregnant. I've somewhat gotten over this embarrassing moment and m moving forward. With that said, I have already picked out new goodies to reward myself with for getting healthy. I have always loved making fantasy shopping lists and since finding the site shopbop, I have been able to make a wishlist for all my heart's desires. Check out my favorites below....

These I'm hoping to get at the end of the month since my old glasses are not cutting it anymore.

Heartbroken

I've been putting off this sad little post but I figured now was a good a time as any. My husband and I have more than a few cats, 5 total, but one is especially dear to him. A particular cat we called Gray Nuts or Lil Bits in polite company. He actually belonged to my neighbors with whom we are good friends with now.     One day this little gray cat showed up and for whatever reason  managed to weasel into our house. We found he got along quite well with our original 3 but of course was let out and disappeared. During this time we began talking to our new neighbors and found out he belonged to them. He continued to show up at our house wanting in and began staying longer and longer periods of time until eventually he never left. Unfortunately the neighbors' other cat did the same thing. You can see them in the picture below. That, however is another story.

When you have animals you have kids, plain and simple. At one point all the cats starting sleeping with us and Lil Bits was no exception. He favored my husband and followed him wherever he went. If my husband went outside he went too. He made sure to be home when my husband got off work and always came running when he saw our trucks pull up. It was quite comical to see him run when called in for dinner as he had an odd wiggly run due to previous hip surgery.Sadly over a week ago my husband let him out for the night and he didn't return. We thought that he just decided to be wild for awhile but still no Lil Bits.

My husband put his jacket on the chair and it officially became Lil Bits' spot.

I tried being hopeful about him being missing but I have to be logical. We live in a rural area where a lot of dogs just run around. I found 2 pitbulls laying at my front door once, both sound asleep! I have never been so heartbroken over an animal in my life. My husband is even worse since he's a big softie.

Both sound asleep.
Has any of you lost a pet or had one disappear? Did they ever reappear? Ugh... I may be a crazy cat lady...

Vintage Couture

If you love vintage fashion and your closet is in need of some new threads then set aside some computer time on Sept 20th for a fantastic online auction brought to you by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers!
It seems as though I'm always on the computer looking for unique vintage clothing and about a year ago I stumbled onto said auction house and was beyond thrilled at their offerings. Glamorous evening gowns, runway jewelry and more than a few Hermes bags are among their usual offerings. It seems they've been holding their famed vintage couture auctions twice a year for more than a few years now (Where have I been?!) and the next one is right around the corner. What makes this one so exciting for me is that I sent in some of my own items. I have bought from plenty of auction house including Leslie Hindman, but NEVER sold at any! Some items will go into the THOUSANDS but if you have a keen eye and are fast on the mouse, you could score some beautiful pieces! For more information go to the Leslie Hindman website.
