Holiday Gift Guide: Books
It's pretty much a given that most of us are planning (or dreading!) our Christmas lists right now. Hopefully my little gift guides will spark some imagination this season so your loved ones won't receive another candle, tie or fruitcake! I LOVE books and have numerous tomes stacked all around my house. My husband is the same way...when I met him those were the only items he owned! I poked around on some of my favorites sites and found some books that are sure to at least illicit a giggle and a smile.....xoxo
The photo says it all...perfect for the pet obsessed.
Have an art fanatic secretly obsessed with celebrities? Look no further, this book will have you guessing at the identities of 100 politicians, chefs and film stars. The answers are included but drawing their faces is up to you.
How many of us have sent a text we wish we could take back? This book is a collection of hilarious texts between parents and their children.
Explore the philosophies of Chanel and her guide to living life on your own terms.
For the children in us all.
I stumbled upon these books and they have skyrocketed to the top of my Christmas list. They seem to be selling out on a few sites where I found them originally but good 'ole Barnes and Noble came to the rescue!
I've included a brief summary from their website about them. This one is sure to be an interesting read!
Occasionally a book is published that reveals a subculture you never dreamt existed. More rarely, that book goes on to become a phenomenon of its own. The 2004 publication of the Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopaedia was such a phenomenon, spawning two further volumes and alerting a fascinated readership worldwide to the extraordinary and hermetic world of Russian criminal tattoos (David Cronenberg, for example, made regular use of the Encyclopaediaduring the making of his 2007 movie Eastern Promises). Now, Fuel has reprinted volume one of this bestselling series, whose first edition already fetches considerable sums online. The photographs, drawings and texts published in this book are part of a collection of more than 3,000 tattoos accumulated over a lifetime by a prison attendant named Danzig Baldaev. Tattoos were his gateway into a secret world in which he acted as ethnographer, recording the rituals of a closed society. The icons and tribal languages he documented are artful, distasteful, sexually explicit and sometimes just strange, reflecting as they do the lives and traditions of Russian convicts. Skulls, swastikas, harems of naked women, a smiling Al Capone, medieval knights in armor, daggers sheathed in blood, benign images of Christ, sweet-faced mothers and their babies, armies of tanks and a horned Lenin: these are the signs by which the people of this hidden world mark and identify themselves. With a foreword by Danzig Baldaev, and an introduction by Alexei Plutser-Sarno, exploring the symbolism of the Russian criminal tattoo.

Too Early
It's a little early to be giving myself Christmas gifts but somehow I always find an excuse. Scored an amazing bag on ebay for a sinfully low price, received my anniversary present early (as in last month early) and stopped by my local nail salon for a mani/pedi...............OoooOo and scored some AMAZING clothes at an auction earlier today. Amazing as in an ALAIA dress that's identical to the one in the FIDM museum's permanent collection!!!!
Yeah I know that's overkill on my left hand but until I figure out how to take pictures of my hands with my mouth this will have to do.
Here's the ALAIA, I'm also getting the full length version in black!!!!!!!!!! Remember folks..paypal does bill me later! xoxox
| Love my new anniversary present, rock crystal and rubies <3 from the 1950s |
| wedding ring from Jared, nail polish is OPI in some orange color(I forget) |

Big Leg Woman
One of the many things that is so fantastic about Fall and Winter is the amazing selection of boots that can be found online and in stores. The shitty thing about it is I have super size calves (16in around baby!)which makes my choices in the boot department dwindle down substantially. After searching tirelessly last night for a knee high boot with a calf size bigger than 13in around I found something to make me smile and quit cursing women with long slender legs.... I found that a few well know companies actually have extended calf size boots! -----------Well holy hell, who knew!
Everyone's favorite shops, J. Crew and Madewell carry extended calf sizes in a small selection of boots. I found that searching for extended calf sizes online also produced a sizeable amount of boots, mostly found at zappos.com. Although it may take some time to find just the right pair at least I know there is some hope. Frye carries a few pair that come in a larger than average calf size and I'm contemplating buying and just getting them stretched. I found that it's an inexpensive service at about $10-$40. I'm still trying to figure out which pair to get but I've narrowed down my choices......
My J.Crew picks
My Madewell picks
My Frye picks
The Frye Campus boot is an iconic style and at 15.5in around is completely doable for stretching.Hell yeah!
Sadly though, while looking for boots I found one that I would kill to have and of course, it's only 13in around in the calf....WTF Is it possible to have part of my calf shaved off?! xoxo

'Tis The Season
Well, it's almost the season anyway! Ugh. Sometimes the thought of the Holidays just makes me wanna hurl. I try not to be a downer around the Holidays but it seems as though it comes earlier every year. So with that in mind, here's some more stuff for you to buy from me. Subtle, huh? LOL I never know until I try.....
I've added some lovely things to the shop and will continue to do so on a more regular basis considering the time of year. I still can't believe it's almost November! Whether you're looking for high end or some unique cheapie gifts check out my shop. xoxo
